La nuit de Varennes (1982)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084423/

On 20 June 1791 the king and queen of France (Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette) tried to escape from Revolutionary Paris to join monarchist allies outside France, but were arrested in the town of Varennes. The incident inflamed popular distrust and hatred against the monarchy. Linked to this historical event the film imagines a group of travellers on the same road, including the American patriot Thomas Paine (Harvey Keitel), the noted seducer Casanova (Marcello Mastroianni), the French novelist Restif de La Bretonne, and one of the queen's ladies-in-waiting (Hanna Schygulla). They reflect various attitudes toward the momentous changes taking place around them....

Restif de La Bretonne had an obsession: in every of his stories there has to be a man having sex with his own daughter. And in the movie you have a scene of very special conversation between Restif (Jean-Louis Barrault) and his daughter Agnès (Evelyne Dress). My rating 7 out of 10.
